HS2 Poem
A train was needed to speed things up
but out in the countryside people were holding it up.
protestors were clashing with HS2 men
foxes evicted from within a den.
Trees were chopped down they did cry
but without checking their facts
not all the new ones did die.
It's not worth the money they said all the time
like building a railway was a complete crime.
It'll not get you there faster they said
it'll end up being a disaster they like to dread.
The railway is being built
we need to modernise
so now is time to revolutionise.
So find out your facts
before crying out.
High Speed is coming
and punching a clout.
but out in the countryside people were holding it up.
protestors were clashing with HS2 men
foxes evicted from within a den.
Trees were chopped down they did cry
but without checking their facts
not all the new ones did die.

Chris Packham appeal rejected
Chris Packham looses in court again today to appeal on Whether he can get permission to appeal the previous judges verdicts and have a judicial review of HS2. Chris Packham was never going to win his case yet again as the judges previously said that his case has no merit and any appeal would be unlikely to succeed.
Last time he would in court he was arguing on grounds of environmental issues. These claims were very quickly thrown out in court as parliament have already taken it into account when it was going through its original planning and routing before gaining its Royal Assent & NTP. The spades are ready and TBM are on their way soon. HS2 is being built. |
Chris Packham loses bid for legal challenge over HS2Chris Packham said the following after losing his court appeal
''It gives me no pleasure to inform you that the Court of Appeal has rejected my request for Judicial Review . Today is a dark day for us , our wildlife , our environment and our planet . And darker still for our government'' . |

First Eurostar TV Advert in a while
Royal Assent is given for HS2 to start Construction
The proposal of a new high speed line which was made some years ago has now been given its royal assent for phase one by Her Majesty The Queen on the 23rd February 2017 after many years of ongoing arguments against the proposed project. some of the objections were because of local residents and wild life protection agencies. However on the other hand some people were just against the project of HS2 no matter what, even though it doesn't affect them. These types of people are the NIMBY's. A big part of the argument was about wildlife and the route in which it will take. other objection were purely because of people living near by and local councils across the country. in addition there were also objections towards the project because of the system in which people, companies and organisations would be affected by the project and the compensation that they felt wasn't adequate. there was an 11th hour bid to stop the HS2 rail project going ahead but this was rejected by a clear majority in the house of lords before be sent back to parliament to finalise before royal assent.
The proposal of a new high speed line was made some years ago for a new high speed line to run from a new London Euston station to Old Oak Common before descending into tunnels before the Chiltens. The reason for HS2 project being adjusted to go in to tunnels below the Chiltens is because of the local residents and wild life protection agencies, some people however are just against the project of HS2 no matter what, even though it doesn't affect them. These types of people are reffered to as NIMBY's (Not In My Back Yard). The planed HS2 will then run from Old Oak Common and under the Chiltens to Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. The aim of HS2 is to take a majority of the intercity services off the over congested West Coast Mainline and to bring that traffic on to the High Speed line (HS2).

BREAKING NEWS - IS HS2 AT RISK?
Following the country's decision to leave the European Union (EU) and the prime minister David Cameron resignation as leader of the Conservative party. It has lead to uncertainty which has seen businesses in the square mile (The CIty) of London wondering what there future is within the United Kingdom and especially within London.
As the UK digest the result of the EU referendum which has seen the prime minister resign with a search to insert a new leader, there has also been fighting within the opposition party which has seen up to 40 cabinet MP's resignation as they don't have confidence in their leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Alongside the uncertainty and in fighting/ in stability within bot parties, is talked as to whether whether the planed third runway at Heathrow will go ahead, as we can understand that many people are against this including one of the former runners for leadership of the Conservative party (Borris Johnson). Some political correspondents have hinted from what they have heard that this could be delayed.
However some people have been questioning whether HS2 project will now go ahead. We now know that the country's pound sterling recently reached a 31 year low against the U.S. Dollar, this could mean for economic reasons that HS2 is scrapped or is delayed for some time. It is believed that if the project is delayed that would lead to it being delayed for some considerable amount of time or forever. This would please many people mostly who live along or near the proposed project which has a strong objection to it being built, however it will mean the promise of jobs that would be generated cannot be delivered on.

Spanish Train Crash
What happened in Spain with the train crash is unbelievable and these people should be remembered but anti HS2 People should show some respect number one and number two this doesn't mean it is an excuse not to have HS2. Going faster doesn't mean that it will always be unsafe. More cars are involved in crashes than trains in a year. Trains are safer than cars and airplanes.

DB given clearance to run trains through channel Tunnel
In the last week DB have been given clearance to run it's Intercity Express (ICE) trains through the channel Tunnel after 3 years of on going problems with the French Government and Rail authority as they want to protect GEC ALSTOM.
They said in a Report that they were not doing it because of GEC ALSTOM, They were doing it because of concerns with the trains being distributed traction which was proved to be a lie as when the tender was put out by Eurostar For new trains GEC ALSTOM were offering a Distributed traction Train. So why have it taken 3 years to be given the go ahead? The answer lies in Eurotunnel and there Safety ruled but During the Protest there have been pressure from the French Government to not Allow the Trains clearance for the Channel Tunnel.
