Eurostar E320 - Class 374
The Eurostar E320 is Eurostar's version of DB (Deutsche Bahn)'s Verlaro D and has a maximum speed limit of 320 Km/h the same as Deutsche Bahn's Verlaro D. Both Eurostar and DB trains are built by the same German train manufacturer SIEMENS who also built the ICE T and 3.
Unlike the Eurostar TMST/E300 and the E320 DB's Verlaro D don't yet have the Yellow Fire doors installed on them and will not be fitted with them unless services are definitely confirmed to start at a given time and testing is carried out before a service date is given. Deutsche Bahn Germanys train operator announce back November 2010 that they plan to run services from Germany to London ST Pancras International. Shortly after they re-announce that they won't be running services till 2015. In December 2012 DB said that due to Software problems when coupling trains together that these trains won't be running to London till at least 2016. The Eurostar E320 started service on 20th November 2015 following Eurostar's 21st Birthday. The Eurostar E320 only a few weeks earlier prior to entering service has been given authorisation to run on the French rail system already having authorisation to run in England. The night before the Eurostar E320 enters service it was given the green light authorisation by euro tunnel to run the train in passenger service through the tunnel between England and France. |
